RE: Ita-nla Billboard Removal, The True Story

As a focused and respectful organization, HAMVOLUNTEERS responds to issues with facts, not personal attacks. In light of recent allegations regarding the Ita-nla billboard removal, we present the facts:

1. Billboard Placement & Relocation

It is true that Dr. Michael Ajilo contacted one of Hon. Abiola Makinde’s legislative aides for assistance in erecting billboards in parts of Ondo. Out of five contracted billboards, only the Ita-nla site had issue. Upon discovery, discussions were held, but Dr. Ajilo insisted on that specific location rather than relocation. The contractor assured him the matter would be resolved amicably.

This was a straightforward business arrangement no political undertones. Any attempt to twist it into a political grievance is misleading and unnecessary.

If Dr. Ajilo wishes to turn a simple commercial matter into a public attack on a long-standing benefactor, he should say so plainly. Someone of his claimed experience and maturity should rise above petty politics, not to behave like a “baby politician.”

2. Political Disagreement

Dr. Ajilo and Hon. Makinde once disagreed over party ticket distribution specifically, the impracticality of awarding him a senatorial ticket while also granting another member of his camp a House of Representatives ticket. This was an honest observation, not a personal slight. Unfortunately, Dr. Ajilo took offense, resulting in repeated public outbursts that show a lack of readiness for leadership.

3. On Hon. Makinde’s Position

Hon. Abiola Makinde remains focused on his legislative duties and has no interest in distractions. He was neither part of nor aware of the Ita-nla billboard arrangement between Dr. Ajilo and aide Adeniyi Adeyosoye, and was not consulted at any stage.

Dragging Hon. Makinde’s name into headlines for political point-scoring is unnecessary, unfounded, and misplaced. Dr. Ajilo should consider a public apology.

Our Advice

We urge Dr. Ajilo and his associates to face political realities, engage in honest dialogue, and abandon attempts at blackmail an open wound no smear campaign can heal.

Let the record show: Hon. Abiola Makinde was unaware of the Ita-nla transaction and should not be made a pawn in political score-settling, despite the history of mutual support between both men.

As Niyi Adeyosoye aptly said: “Oju orun tó ẹiyẹ fò, láì fara kanra” there is enough space in the sky for birds to fly without colliding.
