PRESS RELEASE
Date: 28th July 2025
In a significant political development, Hon. Afolabi Akinsiku, a respected statesman and member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has officially resigned from both the party and its BOT.
Citing persistent and unresolved internal crises at the local, state, and national levels, Hon. Akinsiku announced his decision in a formal letter submitted to the party’s leadership. He described the ongoing disunity and lack of cohesion within the PDP as the primary reason for stepping down after decades of committed service.
Popularly known as Sendme, Hon. Akinsiku holds a remarkable political record, having represented Ondo West Constituency I for two consecutive terms in the Ondo State House of Assembly (6th and 7th Assemblies). This achievement makes him the longest-serving lawmaker from the constituency since 1999.
He also served as a full-time board member of the Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission.
In February 2024, he was nominated to the BOT by the South-West PDP caucus in recognition of his integrity, political experience, and long-standing contributions to the party’s development across the region.
“I am deeply grateful to the leadership of our great party for the opportunity to serve,” Hon. Akinsiku stated in his resignation letter. “It has been an honour to contribute to the growth of the PDP in Ondo State and beyond. However, I believe the time has come to take an integrity-driven decision.”
He extended his goodwill to the PDP, expressing hope that the party will eventually overcome its current challenges through unity and sincere reconciliation.
On his political future, Hon. Akinsiku disclosed that consultations are currently ongoing and that his next course of action will be communicated in due time.
Below are copies of the resignation letters.
