Sir Chief Ayo Akingbule, a respected elder statesman and prominent figure in Ondo State’s political history, has once again reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the development of Ondo Kingdom, without ever seeking personal gain or recognition.
In a message to the Ondo Youths Connect group, Sir Akingbule shared thoughtful insights into his political journey, the values that anchor his service, and his vision for a more united, purpose-driven youth movement.

Speaking with clarity and conviction, he praised Ondo Youths Connect for their remarkable achievements in community development, especially in the absence of major sponsorships. According to him, their success is rooted in sincerity, unity of purpose, and freedom from selfish ambition.
“Many elites and prominent sons and daughters of Ondo, both at home and abroad, constantly ask me how this youth body is able to achieve so much. I tell them it is because their hearts are in the right place,” he remarked.
He recalled his leadership in the IROKO 2013 Movement, which supported the re-election of His Excellency Dr. Olusegun Mimiko. Without collecting a single kobo from any politician, Sir Akingbule led a grassroots campaign across 17 out of 18 local government areas in the state—personally funding trips, paying staff, and providing campaign logistics, including wine for royal visits.
He especially commended political figures who played active roles at the time, including Hon. Akin Akinbobola, who played a pivotal role; Hon. Wale Akinlosotu, who worked tirelessly in Ondo East; and Hon. Abiola Makinde, whom he appointed Chairman of the ICT Unit, describing him as “a visionary with deep love for Ondo Kingdom.”
Despite contributing to the rise of many political leaders, Sir Chief Akingbule stressed that he has never sought contracts, appointments, or political favors.
“I have never collected one naira from any politician to support them. I have never asked for a contract or a government position in my life,” he declared.
He also recounted how he continues to personally maintain the road on his street after a failed government contract during a period of illness, emphasizing his quiet, hands-on approach to community service.

Sir Akingbule appealed to youths to remain respectful and discerning in their public commentary, especially on national matters. He cautioned against unnecessary comparisons between leaders and celebrities.
“We must give honour to whom honour is due. Our words carry weight, and the world is watching. Let us not diminish the respect we have built over the years,” he advised.
He referenced the recent backlash involving Nollywood actress Angela Okorie and a police escort incident, urging against hasty public judgment.
Today, Sir Chief Ayo Akingbule maintains strong relationships across all 18 LGAs in Ondo State, proudly noting that he never needs a hotel when traveling within the state, a testimony to the lasting networks he has built through decades of sincere service.
“That is the reward of integrity and a life of service,” he concluded.
Sir Chief Ayo Akingbule’s message is more than a reflection , it is a timeless challenge to this generation: serve without expecting, lead with truth, and let your impact speak louder than your ambition.
