Former Chairman of the Nigeria 
Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ondo West Local Government, Comrade Israel Akinsulie , has publicly commended Hon. Abiola Makinde, Member of the House of Representatives representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency, for his unwavering dedication to human development, youth empowerment, and sustainable community progress.
Comrade Israel described Hon. Makinde’s leadership as visionary, praising his commitment not only to meeting the immediate needs of his constituents but also to empowering them through skill acquisition, economic opportunities, and long-term solutions to systemic challenges.
“It is one thing to give a man fish, but a far greater act to teach him how to fish. Hon. Makinde has consistently chosen the path of empowerment over mere provision. He is not just alleviating poverty — he is fighting its root causes by creating opportunities for employment, self-reliance, and growth,” Comrade Israel remarked.
This recognition comes amid increasing calls for accountable, people-centered representation in governance. Comrade Israel called on political leaders across the country to emulate Hon. Makinde’s governance style — one that emphasizes capacity-building, inclusiveness, and lasting impact over short-term gestures.
“When you empower people to work, you restore their dignity and set them on a path of purpose and productivity. That is what Hon. Makinde has done for many in our constituency,” he added.
Reflecting on his own journey in public service, Comrade Israel expressed heartfelt gratitude to mentors and leaders who provided him early opportunities, including Hon. Olaolu Oladapo, Hon. Alfred Adesida, Chief Segun Adegoke, and His Excellency Dr. Olusegun Rahman Mimiko. Their support, he noted, enabled him to serve for 25 years in civil service, a career that helped define his purpose and values.
